Mount Gorbea is one of the highest points in Euskadi, located in the border between Biscay and Alava regions, it is also one of the Montes Bocineros (Arratia administrative region) where the old Councils of Biscay were called.

Arriving to the starting point can be a bit confusing. Driving along N-240 road (Barazar mountain pass), we quit the main road in an intersection heading to the Barazar hidroelectric power station, heading to the small village of Ipiña/Ipiñaburu. Another option is to use the road passing by Undurraga dam, leading to the small village of Lanbreabe (not appearing in google maps).

Afterwards, we drive up the narrow road (in winter time it might be closed because of the snow), entering in Gorbea Natural Park until we find a small parking spot. There are two other parking places up the road, the last one is Arimekorta Parking (but only authorized cars can park here, so use the one before, right after a hunter's mountain hut where you can see a big map of the Natural Park).
